"I kept it in the fairway and my chipping and putting were dead on today," said Maiers. "I only needed 13 putts on the front."
Maiers also placed at the PGA junior qualifier at Bunker Hill last week, advancing to the state PGA tournament on July 22 at Lake Panorama. His 77 tied for third.
"I'm looking forward to going back there," added Maiers. He played as part of the Beckman boys team at the state high school tournament there in early June. "I think I will feel comfortable with that layout, since I played it already."
Maiers will play on the TH Tour this week Tuesday and Wednesday, at Bunker and Fillmore. He competes at Elmcrest in Cedar Rapids next week Monday and Tuesday for the Cedar Rapids junior.
