Locals earn WaMaC honors
The coaches of the WaMaC Conference recently honored several area baseball players. Seven members of Beckman's conference runner-up team earned accolades, while three players from WD's fifth-place team were honored.

Beckman's Eric DeSousa, Nate Steger and Isaac Willenbring all earned first-team honors. Tim Stelken, Craig Kerper and Dustin Jacque were second-team honorees. Robbie Anstoetter was named honorable mention.

Western Dubuque's Clayton Gibbs earned second-team accolades. Both Jon Brown and Miles Langel were honorable mention.

First team: pitcher -DeSousa (Beckman) and Brand Shulista (Solon); catcher - Bryn Gisel (Maquoketa); infield - Steger (Beckman), Marshall Koehn (Solon), nick Day (Solon) and Tyler Smith (Solon); outfield - Derrick Loveless (Solon), Brandon Jasper (Central DeWitt) and Tyler Rutenbeck (Maquoketa); utility - Willenbring (Beckman) and Ryan Butler (Solon).

Coach of the year - Keith McSweeney (Solon).

Second team: pitcher - Ryan Lectenberg (Central DeWitt) and Brandon Domeyer (West Delaware); catcher - Stelken (Beckman); infield - Kerper (Beckman), Jordan Hoffman (West Delaware), Jacob Scieszinski (Mount Vernon) and Scott Burke (Central DeWitt; outfield - Travis Brimeyer (Solon), Jake Wall (West Delaware) and Jacque (Beckman); utility - Gibbs (Western Dubuque) and Bret Yonkovic (West Delaware).

Honorable mention by school: Solon - Shawn Olson and Austin Dall; Beckman - Anstoetter; West Delaware - Sam Lahr and Austin Palmer; Central DeWitt - Nick Green and Kody Dahl; Maquoketa - Robert River and Eric Fitzpatrick; Western Dubuque - Brown and Langel; Anamosa - Todd Nielsen and Mitch Hewitt; Mount Vernon - Matt Winder and Marshall Kray.
