Authorities: Epworth woman faces new sexual abuse charge after 2nd victim discovered

An Epworth woman facing a felony charge for child sex abuse is accused of sexually abusing a second child.

Gina C. Urbain, 35, was arrested at 3:28 p.m. Thursday at the Dubuque County jail on a warrant charging second-degree sexual abuse. She was set to appear in court this morning.

Urbain previously was charged with second-degree sexual abuse for allegedly abusing a girl younger than 12 in November. She was arrested in March, and her trial in that case is set for Aug. 20.

Court documents state her latest charge came from the investigation into that initial case. In December, deputies interviewed a boy younger than 10 who told them Urbain and Bryan M. Halfhill, 36, of Dubuque, repeatedly sexually abused him from June 2016 to December 2018.

Authorities also reported finding images of child pornography on Urbain’s cellphone, documents said.

Dubuque County Sheriff’s Department Capt. Dale Snyder said there is potential for additional charges.

Halfhill was arrested Tuesday on a second-degree sexual abuse charge. His bond was set at $30,000 and he is due back in court May 24.
