The Western Dubuque School Board approved change orders for the building projects in Farley and Epworth at its meeting June 10.
The change orders increase the contract sum for the project by $35,857, bringing the total costs of the building projects to $3,422,523. The increases reflect less than 2% of the amount allotted in the projects for change order costs.
The Board approved the purchase of five school buses from Hoglund Bus Sales. The district is purchasing three 77-passenger conventional buses, one 77-passenger bus equipped with seatbelts and one lift bus.
The total costs of the bus purchases are $438,675.
The district purchased four vehicles from Victory Ford. They include:
• A 2019 Ford F-350 4x4 Regular Cab for $28,655.
• A 2019 Ford F-250 4x4 Extended Cab for $28,730
• A 2019 Ford Transit Van for $26,669
• A 2018 Ford Mid Roof Transit Van for $27,300.
Following a public hearing, the board awarded a bid to Midwest Tennis & Track Company in Denison to resurface the track at Cascade High School. The cost of the project is $110,906.
The board also approved an 8% increase in salary for the 2019-20 contract of Superintendent Rick Colpitts.
