Second trial date set for Epworth woman accused of child sex abuse

An Epworth woman has pleaded not guilty to a second child sex abuse charge.

Gina C. Urbain, 35, was arraigned recently on a charge of second-degree sexual abuse. She previously pleaded not guilty to a second charge related to a separate child victim.

Court documents allege Urbain sexually abused a girl younger than 12 in November at a Dubuque County residence. The Dyersville Commercial does not identify victims of alleged sexual abuse.

During that investigation, deputies interviewed a boy younger than 10 who said he was repeatedly sexually abused by Urbain and Bryan M. Halfhill, 36, of Dubuque.

Authorities also reported finding images of child porn on Urbain’s cellphone, documents said.

Urbain is scheduled for trial starting Aug. 20 for the case involving the first victim. She faces trial for the case involving the second victim on July 23.

Halfhill also is charged with second-degree sexual abuse and is scheduled for arraignment on June 17.
