Katherine Simpson and Scott Wiemers were married June 30, 2018 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Farley. Officiants were the Msgr. Kevin McCoy, the Rev. Al Vorwald, the Rev. John Ptacek and assisting was Deacon James Kean. Music was provided by Jason Swedlund, organist/pianist; Greg Ahlers, guitar; Roger VanDonselaar, trombone; Jonathan Simpson, trumpet. Vocalists were Sheila Laubentahl-Black, Kelly Weber, Nicole Miller, Josh Fitzgerald, Aaron Fitzgerald and The Lemon Sisters.

Parents of the couple are Tom and Beth Simpson, of Epworth, Belinda and Frank Green, of Harcourt and Calvin and Billie Wiemers, of Manson.

The bride was given in marriage by her parents.

Lectors were godmothers Sr. Paula Schwendinger and Christine Baird. Eucharistic Ministers were Allyson Schwendinger, cousin of the bride and Cory Naughton, friend of the couple. Gift Bearers were Sarah Schwendinger and Lauren Anstoetter, cousins of the bride.

The bride wore her grandmother Marian Schwendinger’s necklace. Two songs sung prior to Mass were written by her grandfather, John W. Schwendinger.

Matron of honor was Kate Heezen, of Brooklyn Park, Minn. Bridesmaids were Josie Greve, of Madison Wis.; Nicole Aaronson, of Ann Arbor, Mich.; and Jennifer Engler, of Mt. Pleasant, Wis., all friends of the bride.

Best man was Shawn Wiemers, of Manson, brother of the groom. Groomsmen were Danny Zach, of Ft. Dodge, Justin Waller, of Manson, friends of the groom; and Jonathan Simpson, Ripon, Wis., brother of the bride. Ushers were Marc Hoefing, Jessica and Jon Harvey and Zachary Jakaitis.

Katherine is a graduate of Beckman Catholic High School and Simpson College with a Bachelor of Music degree. She graduated from Colorado State University with a Masters of Music degree. She is a fifth through 12th grade band director at Bishop Garrigan Catholic School, Algona.

Scott is a graduate of Loras College with a Bachelor of Arts degree in history. He is a middle school teacher at St. Edmond Catholic School in Ft. Dodge.

A reception was held at the Dyersville Commercial Club Park Pavilion. Dinner music was provided by The Cracked Reeds (minus the bride who is a member of this sax quartet): Julia Rolston, Cindy Johnson, Judy Konecne. DJ for the reception was Zach Jakaitis.

The couple honeymooned in New England, especially Maine and Massachusetts. They stopped to see Katherine’s grandparents, Ken and Jeanette Simpson, in Canajoharie, N.Y.

The couple resides in Humboldt.
