Jennifer Kerpaul is one of the first customers to try the new Wash N Go Pet Wash with dog Rusty.

Pet owners rejoice. Now there’s a place in Dyersville where you can pull up, wash and dry your dog or other pet and keep the mess out of your home.

For $10, at the new Wash N Go Pet Wash, you can choose between oatmeal and tearless shampoo, conditioner, flea and tick treatment, a vacuum to remove water and a blow-dry. It all takes place in a small, climate-controlled room. You can also pay extra to buy dog treats for a reward.

“In the car wash industry, there has been a lot of discussion about pet washes,” said Owner Dan Krause. Last spring at a car wash show, Dan’s wife Shelly Krause learned of the pet wash franchise and thought it would be a good addition to their car wash business, Wash N Go Car Wash at 1680 Seventh Street Southwest in Dyersville.

Shelly said she spoke with a franchise owner who was so enthusiastic with the success of his first pet wash that he told her he would consider opening another.

“I didn’t realize there were that many dogs,” Dan said.

The Wash N Go Pet Wash is open 24 hours a day and is not just for dogs. There is a table for small pets, and larger pets can stay on the floor. Upon completion of the wash, owners request that customers use the spray nozzle to rinse the area.

The pet wash has been open just over a week and business is picking up. So far, customer Karen Anderegg, of Guttenberg, is pleased. “I don’t have to clean the mess up at my house now,” she said, as her dog, Izzy, danced a frisky jig — with a clean body.
