On May 12, Sara Baumgartner joined the Iowa State Extension team in Delaware County as the new K-12 Youth Coordinator.

In 2015, Sara graduated from Starmont High School as a Strawberry Point local. From there she went to the University of Northern Iowa and obtained a bachelor’s degree in Public Health and Education/Health Promotion.

Baumgartner explained that when she saw the job description for the position, she knew it was something she would enjoy. She’s always wanted to work in youth education.

Baumgartner will be in charge of after school programs and camps. She also will have the opportunity to go into local schools and do various STEM activities with students.

So far, Baumgartner has enjoyed learning about what the office has to offer.

The Extension Program’s office is located at 1417 N. Franklin St., Manchester.
