Celebrate Christmas in July
It’s going to be “Christmas in July” at the July 12th Downtown Friday Night with much going on. There will be special visitors coming to Dyersville including The Grinch, Anna and Elsa from Frozen, and maybe even Santa himself. There will be a costume contest for who can dress like Santa would in the summer. Winner will receive $50.
In the spirit of Christmas there will be a food drive, so bring a nonperishable food item or personal hygiene product to put under the Christmas tree for the local food pantry. “People are in need of items and food all year long, not just at Christmas time. This is a great opportunity to replenish items for the Dyersville Food Pantry,” said Karla Thompson Executive Director of the Dyersville Area Chamber of Commerce.
Kids can enjoy many games/activities: “Molar Express” train ride, candy cane hockey, gingerbread playdough, snowman snacks, chalk the street with Christmas scenes, inflatable, face painting, library games, free books and more.
There will be lots of food vendors: Knights of Columbus serving smoked pork loin, Beckman – walking tacos and nacho bar, Chad’s Pizza, 5 K BBQ, Dyersville Historical Society – rootbeer floats, library – freeze pops and Tom Arens – hamburgers/hotdogs. Come and enjoy food and drinks while the band Whiskey Revival will perform from 6:30-10 p.m. on 1st Ave E.
There is no admission to the event so bring your family, friends and neighbors and have a great time. If there are any questions or if you want to drop off food/hygiene items contact the Dyersville Area Chamber of Commerce at 875-2311 or at the James Kennedy Public Library.
The Dyersville Area Chamber of Commerce will also be selling $2,500 Vacation/$3,000 Cash Raffle tickets.
