Farley man receives 10-year sentence for sex crime
A Dubuque County man has been sentenced to 10 years in prison after a jury found him guilty of a sex crime.
David J. Lehmann, 65, of Farley, recently was given the sentence in Iowa District Court of Dubuque County after being found guilty of lascivious acts with a child. The sentence was ordered by Iowa District Court Judge Monica Zrinyi Ackley.
Lehmann’s trial commenced Dec. 13 at the Dubuque County Courthouse, and the jury rendered its verdict Dec. 19. The jury also found Lehmann not guilty of two additional counts of lascivious acts with a child, as well as three counts of indecent contact with a child and one count each of second-degree sexual abuse and third-degree sexual abuse.
Court documents state that Lehmann was accused of sexually abusing three girls younger than 13. The incidents from which the charges arose occurred in the spring of 2020 in Dubuque County, according to documents.
Documents state that Dyersville police were notified of the incidents in August 2020. Each of the girls was interviewed that September at the Child Protection Center at UnityPoint Health in Hiawatha.
A warrant for Lehmann’s arrest was issued in November 2020.
