When it comes to car care, the Reinert family serves up a truckload of experience. For 25 years, Jeff’s Auto Service has been a Dyersville staple.

Jeff and Carmen Reinert opened the doors to their family business Feb. 28, 1994. At the time, Carmen worked nights as a nurse. Jeff had plenty of experience working on his friends’ cars, and the couple decided to rent their current location when it became available.

In the beginning, the couple ran the shop by themselves, with Jeff as the sole mechanic and Carmen staying ahead of the book work between shifts as a nurse. As time went on, Jeff and Carmen decided they could use more help. Even their three children took turns working in the shop. Today, Jeff’s Auto Service has nine employees plus Jeff and Carmen.

“We’ve been really fortunate to have really good employees and neighbors over the years,” said Jeff. The couple agrees their employees have made all the difference. “They each bring a very important part to our business,” added Carmen.

Jeff’s Auto Service will be hosting an open house May 25 to celebrate its 25th anniversary. The event will be from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. at Jeff’s Auto, with food available for purchase. A “ride and drive” car show will also be at that time. Proceeds made during the celebration will be matched and donated to the Dyersville Food Pantry.

“We want to give thanks to the community for making the business what it is today,” said Carmen.
