Sam Ruden puts some finishing touches along the new driveway in Mt. Hope Cemetery.

Mt. Hope Cemetery, in Dyersville, recently installed a new drive which is now strong enough to support the new vehicles. The driveway was paid for with donations, both from Great Give Day and from those received throughout the year.

Board members Carol Ruden and Craig Kramer and volunteers Sam Ruden, Carl Gravel, Carol Pettinger, Gary Hirtz and Joan Kramer added the finishing touches to the new drive.

The drive is just the latest improvement at Mt. Hope Cemetery. In past years all the monuments were restored and straightened. Future projects include making the James Dyer grave a place of tranquility and history. Also, the board is planning to replace the old work shed with a shelter which will have a bench to rest and a plot to identify all buried there.

Donations to help with future projects can be sent to Sharon Gudenkauf (630 8th Ave Ct. Dyersville, IA 52040). Anyone who wishes to volunteer from time to time can contact Craig Kramer at 875-7121.
