What is the name of your first piece? “Orpheus by the River”

How long did it take you to create? Since September, I have been working on it when I find time, so it’s hard to say.

What materials did you use to create this piece? Acrylic paint, wood board and small brushes for details.

What inspired this piece? The Greek myth of Orpheus and patterns in Klimt paintings

What is the name of your second piece? “The 10-Year Slumber”

How long did it take you to create? Two to three weeks, with about two hours a day.

What materials did you use to create this piece? Canvas board and acrylic paint

What inspired this piece? The picture book “The Quiltmaker’s Journey” and the book “Rip Van Winkle”

What is your favorite medium to work in? Why? I find acrylic paint the easiest to control compared to watercolor or oil. Oil pastels are also easy to control and remind me of the crayons we used in elementary school.

What is your favorite subject to draw/paint/ (as in landscapes, people, nature, etc.)? Fabric and small details such as flowers or bugs.

Who is your favorite artist? Why? Gustav Klimt—I like his detailed patterns and his use of color in them.

Do you want to pursue art in any way after you graduate? Of the many jobs that I’m considering, picture-book illustrator and costume designer are among them.
