Despite Covid-19, winter sports flourished at Beckman Catholic High School. The wrestling and women and men’s basketball teams triumphed this season. The winter sport coaches explained their thoughts on the season.

Wrestling coach Steve Lueck said he was excited “to come back and coach at my alma mater.” In regards to the wrestling team, he stated, “I could not ask for a better group of young men to coach.” He was proud of the team and their “record-breaking year, with winning Sectionals, Districts and qualifying five wrestlers to the state tournament.” The team sent Jason Koopman, Nick Hageman, Nick Wulfekhule, Nick Schmidt and Owen Huehnergarth to the state competition. Beckman Catholic High School is proud of their accomplishments and would like to congratulate the boys for their amazing season.

Girls’ basketball coach Chad Thomason stated he was “was extremely proud of how the team finished the season.” The record “shows how competitive we were.” As we continued to play against “much better schools in the WaMaC Conference, it better prepared us for the postseason.” Thomason said, “I hope this season gives us momentum for our program in the future.” He concluded by praising the seniors for the team’s success and motivating the team. They will be missed in the coming seasons.

The boys’ basketball team also had a successful season due their hard work and dedication to the game. Beckman Catholic is proud to send the team to state. We will explore this further in the April edition of the Outpost.
