Theisen’s announced that 242 nonprofits in 24 Theisen’s store communities received a total of $350,000 in awards through the company’s 2019 More for Your Community grant program.

Nonprofits received grant checks at More for Your Community grants celebrations hosted by local stores throughout Iowa and Wisconsin Nov. 11. Successful grant applicants demonstrated that their projects served basic needs — shelter and education, matched strongly with local funds and provided opportunities for those impacted to give back to the community.

The Theisen’s More for Your Community corporate giving program is a partnership with the Community Foundation of Greater Dubuque, who administers the grant program.

“With this year’s grants of $350,000, we are simply giving back to our community and the people we serve,” Jim Theisen, co-owner, said. “We are so proud to support these nonprofit organizations as they provide food, shelter, healthcare, safety and education to children and families near to our store communities.”

Theisen’s is a four generation family-owned business. Three generations of the Theisen family supported this grant program, as they took active roles in evaluating each year’s many applications. They also make annual site visits to nonprofit grantees to learn about community needs and to meet the nonprofit leaders serving our children and families.
