Three juveniles injured following rollover

Authorities say a 13-year-old female driver was ejected from her vehicle and another 13-year-old male passenger had to be mechanically extracted following a rollover accident that occurred just west of Dyersville.

According to a report from the Delaware County Sheriff’s Office, the early morning accident Dec. 27 involving three Dyersville juveniles, who are all under the age of 15, resulted in injuries that required each to be transported by ambulance.

According to an accident report, at approximately 2 a.m. Dec. 27, the 13-year-old female was driving eastbound on 210th Street when she lost control of her vehicle just east of 310th Street.

The car entered the ditch before entering an adjacent field, the report states. Once in the field, the vehicle rolled, eventually coming to rest on its wheels. The report lists operator inexperience as a possible cause of the accident.

The female driver was ejected from the vehicle through the roof and transported by Bi-County Ambulance to MercyOne Hospital in Dubuque for treatment.

The front-seat passenger, a 13-year-old male, had to be extricated from the vehicle and was taken to Regional Medical Center in Manchester by Earlville EMS for treatment.

The back-seat passenger, a 14-year-old female, was transported by Bi-County Ambulance to UnityPoint Health Finley Hospital in Dubuque for treatment.

The report further states the vehicle sustained an estimated $14,000 in damages and is considered a total loss.

The juvenile driver is being charged with failure to maintain control and no valid driver’s license.
