David Mark Thole, 53, of Manchester, passed away Monday, Jan. 20, 2020, at the University of Iowa Hospitals in Iowa City.
Mass of Christian Burial was held at 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 27, 2020, at St. Mary Catholic Church in Manchester, Reverend Gabriel Anderson officiated.
Visitation was held from 2 — 7 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 26, 2020, at Leonard-Muller Funeral Home in Manchester. Private family Scripture service was held at 1:30 p.m. Friends could also call from 10-10:45 a.m. at the church on Monday.
Interment: St. Mary Catholic Cemetery, Manchester.
Casket Bearers: Pat O’Connell, Cory O’Connell, Ken Fortman, Roger Fortman, Dan Klostermann, Rick Deutmeyer, Lyle Helle and Randy Nefzger.
David was born Jan. 31, 1966, in Manchester, the son of Alfred E. “Fritz” and Clarinda (Klostermann) Thole. He graduated from Maquoketa Valley High School in 1984.
David farmed the family farm his entire life. He also assisted his brother Rick at Thole Electric in Manchester.
David enjoyed watching the Chicago Cubs and Iowa Hawkeyes. He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Manchester.
David is survived by five siblings, James (Linda) Thole, Dianne (Jeff) Larsen, and Rick (Kris) Thole, all of Manchester, Joyce (Brian) Lambert of St. Cloud, Fla., and Allan Thole of Red Oak; a sister-in-law, Kathy (Frank) Kelm of Cedar Rapids; and many nieces and nephews.
David was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Dennis Thole, and his great-nephew, Phillip Gaffney.
