Wayne F. Tauke, 85, of Cascade, passed away Wednesday, May 19, 2021 at Unity Point Finley Hospital in Dubuque.

Visitation for Wayne was held from 3-8 p.m., Monday, May 24, 2021 at the Reiff Funeral Home in Cascade, where a prayer service was held at 2:30 p.m. Visitation was also held after 9 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Mass of Christian burial for Wayne was held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, May 25, 2021 at St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Worthington, with Rev. Tyler Raymond officiating. Lectors were Paul Tauke and Melissa Rose. Placing of the Pall was done by: Patricia Tauke, Kim Loecke, Kathy Kuhn, Steve Tauke, Karen White, Paul Tauke and Kenneth Tauke. Giftbearers were: Myra Wilson, Aaron Loecke, Caitie Tauke and Allie Loecke. Burial was held in St. Paul’s Cemetery in Worthington.

Honorary Pallbearers were: Fritz and Jeannette Mescher, Artie Weber, Ric Ericison, Lester and Mary Ellen Manternach, Tom and Donna Fah.

Casketbearers were: Steven Tauke, Andrew Tauke, Matt Digmann, Dustin White, Tony Loecke, Jake Tauke, Nick Loecke, Joe Tauke, Michael Lindenberg and Leo Tauke.

Wayne was born Sept. 9, 1935 in Dyersville, son of Francis and Dorothy (Maiers) Tauke. He received his education in Ss. Peter and Paul’s Catholic Schools. On Feb. 15, 1958 he was united in marriage to Patricia Polfer at St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Worthington.

He was a member of St. Paul’s Parish in Worthington. He was also a member of Operating Engineers Local 234 and the Monticello Gun Club.

He is survived by his wife, Patricia Tauke of Cascade; six children: Kim (William) Loecke of Lisbon, Kathy (Mike) Kuhn of Farley, Steve (Kim) Tauke of Monticello, Karen (Paul) White of Hopkinton, Paul (Colleen) Tauke of Ames, and Kenneth (Wendy) Tauke of Kansas City, Mo.; 23 grandchildren, Nick (Sara) Loecke, Tony (Alecia) Loecke, Allie (Spenser) Pearson, Melissa (Justin) Rose, Matt (Lori) Digmann, Kelly (Wes) Wilson, Jody (Matt) Hartman, Lacy (Dan) Lynch, Dustin (Audrey) White, Nicole (James) Suarez, Jessica (Fiancé, Kyle Kass) White, Steve (Cori) Tauke, Michael (Chelsea) Lindenberg, Erin LaRue, Joseph (Amber) Tauke, Andrew (Cheyanne Tauke, Caitlin and Leo Tauke, Jacob, Meghan, Molly, Macy, and Alexa Tauke; 34 great grandchildren, Samantha, Aaron and Willow Loecke, Valerie, Danika, Grace, and Royce Loecke, Harlow Rose, Colin and Carlie Digmann, Myra, Wyatt, and Mylo Wilson, Brady Digmann, Jordan Hartmann, Logan, Navea, Dale, and Dakota Tauke, Montgomery and August Lindenberg, Nora and Lorelei LaRue, Hattie and Brooks Lynch, Eli, Emery, and Emmett White, Oliver and Jackson Tauke, Daisy, Cora and Callahan Tauke; four sisters, Lindee (Allan) Steffen, Shirley Lukan both of Dyersville, Patsy (Jim) Reittinger of N.C., and Joan Hess of Cascade; brothers and sisters-in-law, Richard (Jean) Polfer of Peosta, Janet Funke of Dyersville, and Charles (Mary Jane) Polfer of The Villages, Fla.

He is preceded in death by his parent; two brothers, Dale Tauke and Thomas Tauke; father and mother-in-law, Nick and Veronica (Kelchen) Polfer; three brothers-in-law, Thomas Lukan, David Hess, and Floyd Funke; sisters-in-law, Mary Ann (William) Jaeger; two nephews, Jeff Jaeger and Scott Hess.
