Wow. 2020 is finally over. It has been a year of disappointment and challenge for so many.
Here at the food pantry, it has also been a year of challenge. We assisted three times as many households in 2020 as we did in 2019. It was a challenge and a scary situation for us. The food pantry is known to help anyone in need. As numbers increased, we wondered if we would be able to help so many who needed assistance. But everyone that works with the pantry has deep faith and trust in the Lord that He will help us to help His people in need. Once we put the word out that we needed toilet paper, meat, pancake mix, etc., assistance started to pour in with both personal products and food. For example, one day I gave out the last of our hamburger, the next day I received a call that someone had donated 25 pounds of hamburger to us. The generosity of this wonderful community, businesses, schools and citizens have proven that they truly want to help those in need.
We cannot begin to thank this community enough for all the help you have given to us.
At Thanksgiving, we were able to distribute turkeys/turkey breasts, along with the fixings for Thanksgiving dinner, to over 200 households. We had banks, school FFA’s, bowling teams, grocery stores and individuals all donate to this cause.
Then we had our Angel Tree program and Christmas Food Box give away. With the help of this wonderful community, we were able to provide gifts to over 371 children and food to over 238 households, each receiving two large food boxes, which included beef roast, ham, milk, butter, eggs, cereal, canned fruits and vegetables, plus much more.
We are overwhelmed with all the donations that have been given to us. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts and may Our Dear Lord bless you and your family in 2021.
With heartfelt thanks and appreciation.
