Are you passionate about a local cause? The Dyersville Commercial would like to remind local non-profits that we welcome your submissions on our opinion pages.

We welcome guest opinion pieces from non-profits on what’s going on in their organization and about the vital issues that they’re trying to address. This is simply another way that we can provide services to our community—and share with our readers the exciting things going on in our community.

We do have a few rules (of course). All articles need to be written by a person, not by the organization or some anonymous board, and we may include the writer’s photo. Please keep your lengthy descriptions under wraps—about 500 words is a good length, or else you’ll start to lose readers. And they shouldn’t simply be advertisements. We can help you if you’re challenged about what to leave out and what to keep in.

As a reminder, we’re also always seeking letters to the editor: our pages can be a forum to generate ideas and host a conversation about important issues to our readers. Letters cannot be anonymous or libelous, but they can be a tool to build community dialogue.

To submit a guest opinion or letter to the editor, please email or mail to 223 First Avenue East, P.O. Box 350, Dyersville IA 52040. Please include your name, community of residence for letter-writers and a phone number so we can contact you with any questions.

We can’t wait to start the conversation.
