Emily Kay Nieman and Ethan Cecil Walton, both of Waukee, were united in marriage Aug. 19, in a beautiful outdoor ceremony overlooking the Des Moines River on the deck of the Jester Park Lodge in Granger.
Andrew Zellmer, friend of the couple, officiated the 4:30 p.m. ceremony followed by a reception and dance in the lodge where music was provided by the band “The Punching Pandas”. Food with Flair catered the event.
Parents of the couple are Joseph and Sharon Nieman of LeMars and Kent and Lisa Walton of Marion. Emily is the granddaughter of the late Lyle and Kay Mummert of Cherokee and Jean and the late Clayton Nieman of Spencer, currently residing in Webster City. Ethan is the grandson of Marilyn and the late Duane Whitney of Winthrop and the late Kenneth and Peg Walton of Independence.
Maid of honor was Megan Guge of West Des Moines, friend of the bride. Bridesmaids were Zoe Nieman, sister of the bride; Corinne Black, Brooke White, Maggie Hoffman, Ana Baue and Shayla Downing, friends of the bride. Flower girl was Quinn Marie Walton, niece of the groom.
Best man was Caleb Walton of Winterset, brother of the groom. Groomsmen were Brett Recker, Eric Bohnenkamp, Derek Offerman, Nate Lynch and Grant Degan, friends of the groom, and Josh Nelson, brother of the groom. Ushers were Josh DeShaw, Joe Zhiss, Jacob Coyle and Jake Dever, friends of the groom. Ring bearer was Hunter Downing, friend of the bride.
A 10-day wedding trip to New Zealand will take place in the winter of 2018.
Mr. and Mrs. Walton make their home in Waukee where Emily is employed as a Social Worker II at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines. Ethan serves as the Executive Director of Kennybrook Village in Grimes and as 2nd Lieutenant in the Iowa National Guard.
