Things didn’t go so well for the Beckman wrestling team at its double dual with Mount Vernon and West Delaware, Dec. 1, at Mount Vernon. Of course, when you go up against top-ranked teams, things like that happen.

The Blazers dropped the dual to Mount Vernon, 54-16, and to West Delaware, 70-6.

In the Mount Vernon matches, three Blazers took wins. Nick Hageman built a major decision (10-0) over Jackson Rhomberg at 138. Mason Recker needed just 1:14 to pin Tyler Stine at 145. Connor Grover took out Jonathan Barnes by fall (2:35) at 152.

Losing by decision were Danil Wall at 120 (7-5), Adam Schmitt at 132 (4-2), Cole Domeyer at 182 (7-3) and Nick Schmidt at 106 (4-2). Falling were Alex Hageman at 113 (2:42), Levi Feldman at 132 (1:03), Ty Fangman at 170 (5:11), Owen Huehnergarth at 195 (3:56), Jason Koopmann at 220 (1:09) and Isaac Barrick at 285 (1:00).

Four of seven Blazers won their exhibition matches: Mason Koelker by fall at 113 (1:06), Sam Krapfl at 132 (0:15), Ryan Schlarmann at 145 (1:20) and Michael Dinan at 152 (0:09).

Against the top-ranked Hawks, the lone points came in the opening match, from Schmidt by fall over Carson Turnis (1:34). Nick Hageman, Recker and Grover lost by decision. Everybody else gave up falls.

The Hawks defeated Mount Vernon in the other dual by a score of 73-0.
