Opening their season at CPU May 26, the Level III Blazer boys swept the Stormin’ Pointers bigtime, winning the first game 23-0 in three innings and the second, 13-2, in four.

They wasted no time in the first game, batting through their lineup to record nine runs. They slacked off a bit in the second, only scoring seven and then repeated that in the third to win.

Both Carter Hageman (two doubles) and Griffin Davis (one) went 4-for-4, tallied six RBIs together and scored seven runs. Cooper Klas (two), Tanner Ostwinkle (two) and Jake Schmidt went 3-for-4 with seven RBIs and seven runs. Joe and Aiden Engler were 2-for-4 with four runs, Dylan Recker 1-for-5 with a run. Cole Hirsch walked three times and scored twice.

Schmidt got the win allowing no hits and fanning four.

In the second game, the big inning was the third, where they scored 11 of their 13 runs to close things early. They took advantage of a bundle of walks issued by the CPU hurler.

Recker went 2-for-3 with three RBIs, Ostwinkle 2-for-4 (one) and three RBIs, Brady Salter 1-for-4 scoring two runs of three walks, Hageman 1-for-4, one RBI, Schmidt 1-for-4 (triple) and two runs, Hirsch and Charlie Manternach 1-for-3.

Recker got the win with eight strikeouts.

June 2 found them at Manchester for a split with the Hawks, losing 7-1 in the first and rebounding with an 11-8 win in the second.

They scored their lone run in the top of the first, when Ostwinkle singled in Recker, who ended 2-for-2. Joe Engler was the only other batter to get a hit. Klas took the loss.

They went ahead 4-0 to begin the second game and added seven runs in the second inning, taking advantage of free passes from the Hawks.

Je Engler went 2-for-3, Matthias McDermott 1-for-2, Aiden Engler and Ostwinkle 1-for-3. Recker took the win in three innings pitched while Joe Engler threw one and gave up six runs.
