Beckman sophomores Kelly Snyder and Jessie Then scored team points in seven of the eight events they swam for Wahlert at the Marcussen Invitational in Cedar Falls, Oct. 2.
Snyder was a member of the sixth-place 200-medley relay, with Avery Schmidt, Natalie Kelzer and Brooke Wuebker, the 15th-place 200-freestyle relay with Taylor Borgerding, Then, and Mia Brooner, as well as two 15th places in individual events, the 200-individual medley and the 100-breaststroke.
Then was part of the 14th-place 200-medley relay with Taylor Weig, Cate Ihrig and Borgerding as well as the 200-freestyle and placed 16th in the 500-freestyle. The top 16 places score points in the team race. Then was 19th in the 100 Fly.
Coach Emily Snyder added, “There were 12 schools entered in the event and we were pleased with our placing. We are starting the championship portion of our season now. These varsity invitationals are a great lead-in to the big meets coming up. There is lots of competition for the girls in every race.”
