Bowling at the Cedar Rapids Bowling Center Jan. 7, the Western Dubuque boys’ bowling team took a 3,004 to 2,843 win from the Linn-Mar Lions, despite giving up the high individual total to Lion Calix Carpenter (506).

The Bobcats built their early lead with a 2,088 regular game total, leading the Lions at 1,976.

Aidan Besler paced the Bobcats with 447 (244, 2030). Ethan Potter was next at 435 (226,209), followed by Nolan Vaske 418 (215, 203), Jude Ludwig 404 (220, 194) and Nick Sweeney 384 (212, 172). Nolan Morrison did not count with 344 (193, 151).

Coach Grant Kramer added, “This was a good win on the road for us. We were able to get things started right away and jump to an early lead. It sets us up for a meet tonight (Monday) with Hempstead.”

The girls’ team dropped a 2,519 to 2,898 decision to the Lions but no individual scores were submitted in time for this report.
