Western Dubuque’s Davis and Jax Stelzer notched top-10 finishes to lead the Bobcats to a ninth-place finish in the 13-team Linn-Mar Invitational at Hunter’s Ridge Golf Course in Marion, Aug. 19.
Davis Stelzer fired a front-nine 39 and a back-nine 37 to finish in a tie for ninth at 76, while Jax Stelzer birdied his first hole of the day, the par-three 14th, and finished at 77 with nines of 38 and 39 to tie for 10th at 328.
“Jax and Davis have been really consistent to start the year,” said Western Dubuque coach Ben Wilson.
Max Naumann had a nice round of 80 (36-44), Kurtis McGrane shot 95 (43-52) and Nathan Vaske finished at 98 (48-50). Casey Perrenoud was forced to withdraw due to injury.
“Max has improved a ton and came on strong with an even-par 36 on the front today,” said Wilson. ‘We played pretty well today but it made it tough to score when Casey went down.”
