Logan Brosius won two individual events — the long jump and the 110-meter high hurdles — and had a hand in two winning relays to lead Western Dubuque to a second-place finish at the Pleasant Valley Invitational, March 31.

The host Spartans took team honors with 123 points, WD was second (116.5), Hempstead third (113), North Scott fourth (106), Dubuque Senior fifth (103), Muscatine sixth (66), Central DeWitt seventh (60) and Clinton eighth (45).

“These young men continue to elevate their level of competition against some very good competition,” said Bobcat coach Tom Jasper. “They have gotten better each day and week.”

Brosius took the 110-hurdles in 15.19, won the long jump at 21-7.5, and anchored the shuttle hurdle relay and 4x100. The shuttle team of Mitchell Ashline, Devin Neuhaus, Jack Wischmeyer and Brosius finished in 1:04 and the 4x100 group of Dominic Frost, Ashline, Tommy DeSollar and Brosius hit the tape in 44.36.

In the 800 run, Eli Nauman was third at 2:08.45 and Cade Messer eighth in 2:15.02. Isaiah Hammerand was eighth at 3,200 in 11:09.13. Jack Wischmeyer was fourth in the 110 hurdles at 16.37.

The Bobcats were busy in the relay events. The distance medley team of Dayvion Gaston, Devin Johnson, Timmy Horsfall and Messer was second in 3:57.63, while WD had a trio of fourth-place finishers: the 4x200 team of Ashline, Walker, Spencer Zinn and Jacob Butcher finished in 1:36.57, the 4x800 foursome of Eli Nauman, Caden Coyle, Lucas Ingles and Ryan Digmann finished in 8:53.72 and Carson Burger, Butcher, Brayden Staner and Ian Fagan crossed the line in 1:43.57 in the sprint medley.
