Beckman senior Tom Jaeger signed a National Letter of Intent to play soccer at St. Ambrose University in Davenport in a ceremony, March 12, at the school.
Jaeger led the Blazers last year in goals scored with 11 and posted a shots-on-goal percentage of .478 with 23-of-44 shots considered on goal. As a sophomore, he scored seven goals, among the top four on the team.
“I actually went to St. Ambrose on a football visit,” said Jaeger. “I just fell in love with the campus but decided I wasn’t quite big enough to play college football. I’m not that big a guy. In the back of my mind, all the time was playing soccer in college, so I talked to the coach that day too. He (Chad Hollman) is starting his first year and it sounded like the place for me. It didn’t take me too long to decide.”
Jaeger is undecided about a major but is leaning toward IT studies.
He is the son of Dale and Ellie Jaeger, of Dyersville.
