In their first varsity-only meet of the season, the Oct. 3 Marcussen Varsity Invitational, the Wahlert Golden Eagles placed fourth among the nine teams entered. Beckman freshman Kelly Snyder swam in three events.
Snyder swam the individual 100 breast stroke and placed ninth with a time of 1:25.45. The top 16 qualify for team points. She also participated in the 200-medley relay and the 200 free relay, which placed eighth and ninth.
Bettendorf won the meet, followed by Cedar Falls, Decorah, Wahlert, Mason City, Senior, Waterloo, CR Washington and CR Jefferson. Team scores were not reported.
Coach Emily Snyder added, “Due to the virus, we swam the meet at two different sites, four teams at one and five at the other, to limit the number of athletes on the pool deck. The times were then merged.”
