Maquoketa Valley’s football team secured its first victory of the season with a 50-0 routing of Clayton Ridge on the road.

Quarterback Parker Sternhagen passed for three touchdowns, two to Trent Koopman and one to Owen Mensen. Sternhagen also rushed for three scores, the longest being 15 yards. Zach Digman added a 7-yard tally for the Wildcats’ big night of scoring. Additionally, Sternhagen converted three two-point conversions and Derek Becker one to help MV to the 50-0 win.

MV also won the turnover battle with seven total fumble recoveries, a season-high in the defensive category.

Sternhagen completed 11-of-21 passes for 184 yards, three touchdowns and three interceptions. His receivers were AJ Ambundo 4-for-103, Koopmann 5-for-57 and two touchdowns and Mensen 2-for-24 and one touchdown.

Becker led the Wildcats on the ground with 17 carries for 80 yards. Digman had 12-for-70 and one touchdown and Sternhagen 14-for-66 and three touchdowns.

Koopmann led the defense with four tackles. Digman, Isaac Kramer, Mensen and Sternhagen had 2.5; Michael Feldmann, Tim Harmon, Andrew Kloser and Carter Kruse two; Ambundo and Matthew Hucker 1.5, Becker and Mason Kruse one.

Kloser recovered two fumbles, Becker, Hucker, Kramer, Carter Kruse and Sternhagen one.

Ambundo had eight kickoffs for 244 yards and two punt for 54 . Koopmann had one kickoff return for six yards and two punt returns for 42.
